Vineyards
1969, oil, c. 100 x 80 cm
“The dominant character, the preponderant impression in d’Accardi’s painting is this colour, spread out in dense, rich mixtures, overflowing with light and energy. Pure, absolute, full colour, but never strained or exhibitionistic; colour that can almost be thought of but that is never heavy. His woods therefore live in colour; they are woods of flames created with a violent and at the same time harmonious light.
The trunks and the branches, black and dry, thus become the magical loom of a fantastic construction, the supporting threads of his luminous panels: then the forest and the vineyard are transfigured to become a single flower, a flower of light.”
Paolo Ambrosetti, La Prealpina, 1972
