A Battle

“If the painter’s attention shifts from the generous conflict of the greens, of the vegetal jubilation that is exalted even in the blinding whiteness of the snow, he also seeks a humorous and exciting event where the disparate effects of the colours and the passionate movements can be combined, aimed in their production at a mental level. He paints something that can finally be called the proposal for A Battle; the conflict of horses and bodies, but above all that of nerves and sensitivity.
